Transportation/Airport
For our guests that will be flying in for their hunt, the most common airport to fly into is Wichita, KS. We are located about 1.5 hours straight West of the airport. Guests may also fly into Dodge City, KS as well (40 minutes west of Greensburg).
Weather
The weather is Southern Kansas is typically beautiful for hunting, with highs in the 40’s or 50’s depending on what month you come. Even in January our average high is near 50° and we only average about 7 inches of snow per year. So late season hunts can be some of the best and most enjoyable.
Checklist/What to Bring
Since we will be providing almost everything you need for your hunt, there is not much you will have to remember other than being prepared to have a great time. Clothing and your gun would be the most obvious. We do have guns for rent if you are in need.
You can also bring your own ammunition, or we have high quality shells available for sale at the lodge. Be sure to bring some comfortable clothing and shoes/slippers to wear around the lodges. While we provide all non-alcoholic beverages, be sure to bring your alcoholic beverage of choice if you so desire. We provide all the cups, ice, and mixers that you may need. There is also a liquor store in town to purchase refreshments.
Other Activities
We want to provide many opportunities for fun and fellowship after a great day of hunting. We have a top-of-the-line Trackman IO golf simulator that will allow you to play virtually any course across the world. Our lighted trap range will help you sharpen your skills and provide many challenging shots. Playing knock out will give you lots of opportunities for laughs with your friends, family, and/or customers. Our lodges have pool tables, shuffleboard, corn hole, poker tables, fire pits, ping pong, horseshoes, and several other activities. If you like predator hunting, just bring your rifle and shells. We have the box blinds and predator calls. Most of our top end Banks blinds can hold you and a friend, and you will get to experience the beautiful Kansas landscape, sunset, and an abundance of wildlife. If you come in January, you can legally use thermal scopes which adds to the predator hunt success. Other activities near our lodge is the world’s largest hand dug well museum, boot hill museum in Dodge City, or the boot hill Casino in Dodge.
Hunting License
You will need a valid hunting license which can be purchased online before your hunt or you can get your license when you get to the lodge. You will need the regular hunting license (not a CSA license). Kansas has a good deal in that your hunting license is good for 365 days from the date of purchase. So many times you can get 2 seasons out of 1 license.
Bringing Your Dog
Upland Inn encourages our guest to bring their hunting dogs. One of the greatest joys of hunting is watching your bird dog get into a bunch of wild birds. While we don’t allow dogs in the lodges, we do have indoor heated kennels to keep your best friend happy and safe. Our Best Western lodging option allows dogs in the room for $20/night.
