Kansas is one of the top states for bobwhite quail hunting, and Upland Inn provides some of the best available in the Midwest. A combination of native sand hill pastures, CRP, and crop fields provides the perfect combination of habitat that quail need. We’ve been able to move as many as 28 coveys in a day! We typically use pointing dogs while quail hunting, but we strongly encourage you to bring your dogs as well. We only sell a limited amount of quail hunts every season, so book your hunt early if you want to get in on the action.
A typical day of quail hunting at Upland Inn will be a delicious breakfast around 8 am, and we will head to the fields around 9 am. We will get the dogs collared up, and head through the beautiful habitat as you watch the grace of a good bird dog work his magic. The thrill experienced when a pointer locks up is only exceeded by the anticipation as you walk in for the covey rise. The small flying rockets that bust from a covey rise will challenge even the best of shooters, and with a limit of 8 birds per day you will get plenty of action. We will head back to the lodge for a delicious lunch and short rest, before heading back out to the fields to finish out your limit. Once back to the lodge at the end of the day, the fun will continue with a prime rib eye dinner, followed by cocktails and storytelling. A game of pool or shuffleboard will help keep the good times rolling, or relax on our heating massaging recliners as you reminisce about the days hunt.
